 Synonyms & Historicals
Cysteic Acid .
Cysteate .
3 Sulfoalanine .
Acid, Cysteic .
beta Sulfoalanine .
3-Sulfoalanine .
beta-Sulfoalanine .
Beta-Sulfoalanine. An amino acid with a C-terminal sulfonic acid group which has been isolated from human hair oxidized with permanganate. It occurs normally in the outer part of the sheep's fleece, where the wool is exposed to light and weather. .
Dapsone .
4,4'-Diaminophenyl Sulfone .
Avlosulfone .

Disulone .
Sulfona .
4,4' Diaminophenyl Sulfone .
Sulfone, 4,4'-Diaminophenyl .
Diaminodiphenylsulfone .
Sulfonyldianiline .
A sulfone active against a wide range of bacteria but mainly employed for its actions against MYCOBACTERIUM LEPRAE. Its mechanism of action is probably similar to that of the SULFONAMIDES which involves inhibition of folic acid synthesis in susceptible organisms. It is also used with PYRIMETHAMINE in the treatment of malaria. (From Martindale, The Extra Pharmacopoeia, 30th ed, p157-8) .
Selenocysteine .
3-Selenylalanine .
Selenocysteine, DL-Isomer .
3 Selenylalanine .
Selenocysteine, DL Isomer .
A naturally occurring amino acid in both eukaryotic and prokaryotic organisms. It is found in tRNAs and in the catalytic site of some enzymes. The genes for glutathione peroxidase and formate dehydrogenase contain the TGA codon, which codes for this amino acid. .

2,3-Dioxygenase, Catechol .
3 Sulfocatechol 2,3 Dioxygenase .
Catechol 2,3 Dioxygenase .
Pyrocatechol 2,3 Oxygenase .
Catalyzes the oxidation of catechol to 2-hydroxymuconate semialdehyde in the carbazole and BENZOATE degradation via HYDROXYLATION pathways. It also catalyzes the conversion of 3-methylcatechol to cis, cis-2-hydroxy-6-oxohept-2,4-dienoate in the TOLUENE and XYLENE degradation pathway. This enzyme was formerly characterized as EC .
